Maybe I'm wrong because the bags fill with water and seem to do something? There's always some moisture in the air, isn't there? But they seem to get that "manly" smell out of our closets, and we use them on the boat. The boat is the most noticeable difference. There is no musty, damp smell and the air seems cleaner. We have a 34 foot cabin cruiser with adequate enclosed space. Two of these will keep the boat fresh for about 45 days. So we use about six of these per season. Then one layer is enough for months of winter storage. I like the fresh smell because I don't like anything that smells like spices or food in the closet or on the boat.
