Review on Monoprice Blackbird 4K 4x1 HDMI Switch with Audio Extractor - Black, HDR, 18Gbps Refresh Rates, YUV 4:4:4 by Darrell Sharp

Our new 4K OLED TV only has HDMI inputs and no analogue audio outputs, so we needed a headphone solution. This HDMI switch with audio extractor does the job perfectly! Thanks to the high bandwidth, the quality of the video in our HDR image is not affected - just as if it were connected directly to the TV. A few things to note: (1) Use high bandwidth HDMI 2.0 cables with this switch to maintain video quality; (2) This unit will turn on all HDMI connected devices and switch to it automatically, which can be annoying. For example, when we wanted to watch cables, this device would always turn on our Blu-Ray player and switch to it. The solution is to disable the HDMI link in the linked devices. In our case, just go to the Blu-Ray menu and set the Viera link to Off. Now the Monoprice module stays on the input we chose, although the associated hardware has to be turned on and off manually (not a big deal). Finally, the tiny remote control that comes with this device often requires 2 or 3 button presses before it responds and toggles to the requested input, which is a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. As an audio/video solution for the latest OLED HDR TVs, this is a great solution that we highly recommend.
