My cats pull the collars off

My cats pull the collars off by opening the broken fasteners. Now I can't find any collars. I have purchased collars with buckles and they will not be removed. When the young were kittens, collars were fine. I used to buy new collars every year because they look so cute with the butterfly, but now they rip off brand new collars so I don't buy teardrop collars anymore.
