The standard by which others are judged. The locking works well.

Great collar. I was concerned about the latch but no problems at all. The clasp allows my 8 year old daughter to put the collar on and off as she doesn't have the arm strength to squeeze any of the links. Also because you don't compress the link every time you set it up and commit. off the collar seems to wear better and should last longer. If I'm even close to exercise, I also use a safety leash that goes from the leash to his flat collar. That way I don't lose the dog if the tine falls apart. Just one thing. I walked my dog on sandbars in the sea. Surface rust appeared on the collar almost immediately. I wiped it off with 0000 steel wool and it didn't come back even though I swam a lot in fresh water. If you want this for a dog that will be in salt water, you should go for the stainless steel version. Unfortunately, the stainless steel version is not available with a bolt. I'll just take the dog to the beach on his flat collar as the prong has helped him develop good walking habits which are maintained even when he's not at it. Update June 2019 - This collar continues to work perfectly. I had one without a clasp and within a year some of the links were deforming due to all the flexing required to put the collar on and off. So it's definitely a reliability boost. I stopped using the leash that ran from the leash to his flat collar, which I did with the original version of this collar because the links sometimes came loose from flexing. Only thing I can say against that is that we took the dog into the sea and although I rinsed the collar and washed the dog there was superficial rust on it. The rust was very, very light and disappeared within a month. The bottom line, however, is that repeated use in saltwater will destroy this collar. is that Herm Sprenger makes a stainless steel collar and the downside is they don't make a stainless steel collar with this excellent clasp.

Pros
  • CORRECTION COLLAR FOR DOGS: Central plate ensures even pressure/correction
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
