Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Lenovo Legion 5 Gaming Laptop with AMD Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti by Jnis Staulis แ Œ

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I am satisfied, the product fully corresponds to the description.

My kit: Intel Core i5 10500H, RTX 3050 ti, 16 gb RAM, SSD 500 gb, 60 wh battery The laptop was purchased as a workstation for GPU rendering and work with architectural CAD systems. There was also a reference point for games in between work. In general, the 82NL000CRK model was created for these tasks. If you want to take a laptop for gaming, then the RTX 3050 ti graphics card will not be enough for you, due to the small amount of video memory. Although it is RTX, itโ€™s better not to turn on ray tracing - an immediate drop in FPS from 60 to 20-10. Here the essence is precisely in the presence of DLSS. It is better to look at models of the same series that are more expensive and with more powerful video cards. During the use, I went through Horizon Zero Dawn and Control at high graphics settings and did not experience any problems. Architectural programs, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion 12 work well. Adobe Photoshop 2022 also works flawlessly, including Neuro filters. I was very upset by the whistle at high load on the GPU. Moreover, Lenovo itself knows about this problem and officially recognizes it, but does not consider it a marriage. So, the first thing you do when you buy this laptop is run it through high load tests, listen to how the cooling system works. Some people do not hear it, everything is individual here. I did not take it, tk. I mostly play with headphones and I can't hear them. There is no whistle in other use cases. In general, I am satisfied with this device, it fully met my expectations. For a price of +/- 100.000. is one of the best options.

Pros
  • - Excellent build quality. - Stylish, sleek design. - Well-chosen components that do not conflict with each other - Matte, non-marking matrix with a frequency of 120 hz. Good color reproduction - Not bad firmware Lenovo Vantage, but it is better to replace it with a simpler Lenovo Legion Toolkit. - Good cooling system. The laptop may not include coolers for a long time and remain cold, and at low speeds they are almost inaudible. - Convenient touchpad, which works all the basic gestures. Does not play, well sensitive to pressing. - Laptop lid opens with one hand, no need to hold the case - There is a shutter for mechanical closing of the webcam. - There is a keyboard backlight at two brightness levels. On the second, it shines brightly enough. - Comfortable, quiet keyboard with good response. We have a pad. - A good discrete graphics card with RTX (the ability to enable DLSS in new games increases the number of FPS).
Cons
  • - The case is very easily soiled. All fingerprints and micro-scratches are visible - The webcam is a plug here - the quality is minimal. - Low maximum brightness of the matrix. Indoors should be set to 80-90%. Nothing will be seen on the street - Sound quality is mediocre. High frequencies are overstated, there is no bass. Sometimes it even cuts the ear. The Dolby Access software saves the situation a little (by the way, the laptop has a built-in Dolby Atmos for the same purposes, but it does not work at all). In fact, this is an equalizer with customized presets for specific use cases. - Heavy software for computer management Lenovo Vantage. Be sure to replace with Lenovo Legion Toolkit, because. the functionality is the same, but consumes many times less RAM and CPU resources - Incomprehensible work of power profiles. Yes, on each profile, the maximum frequency of the CPU and GPU increases in ascending order, but this does not affect games or rendering in any way. You can play the latest games on high-ultra graphics settings at 60 fps and Quiet Mode (blue). Only the computer will even heat up less and make less noise than in other modes - In my copy of 82NL000CRK there is a 60 wh battery cut down (can be replaced with an increased one) - Also in my copy there are RAM with high timings SK HYNIX HMAA1GS6CJR6N-XN. It is necessary to definitely change, tk. greatly affects the work in CAD - The most greasy minus is the whistle of the cooling system. The sound comes at very high frequencies, which cuts the ear Bypassing most of the forums, watching a lot of videos, I came to the conclusion that most Legion 5 2022 have this problem. The whistle can be both from the design of the cooling system, and from the chokes of the video card, from the processor, from the matrix, from the WI-FI adapter - whoever comes across something that is not very serviceable. Apparently, in my copy, the video card chokes whistle, coupled with the CO design, since the sound appears only when the GPU is under high load. I was relatively helped by the correct setting of power profiles, constant work on Quiet Mode (everyone has their own decisions)
