Better than my last tires!

No shipping and delivery problems. I have a 2013 Trek Marlin Gary Fisher X-country bike (entry level). I wasn't really a mountain biker when I bought this bike - mostly paved easy terrain. slipping on the roots and in the mud. We live in Texas so there are only flat and moderately hilly areas (except West Texas). I added Ardent (width 2.4) in the front and Ardent Race (width 2.2) in the rear. The grip is definitely better than my previous tires, I don't slide as much in mud and leaves anymore. Please note: These tires MUST face a specific direction when fitted to the bike. They are directional - look for the arrow on the tire. Feedback from others saying the tires are really slow makes me wonder if they mounted tires backwards. I didn't notice any debris moving through the mud, and while traction has improved for me, the tire still slips on the roots from time to time. and dirt. But maybe something will happen? I just notice a little more pedaling resistance than my previous tire. As far as I know these are XCountry tires. My husband also added them to his 2013 Trek Mamba. His original Bontrager tire had bigger lugs than mine, and he says he noticed better traction with it, too.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not everything fits
