Fast pitching, great control and a great rear tire!

I had an Ikon 27.5 x 2.2 rear tire but it didn't work that well. Ardent Race 27.5x2.2 has better grip and lasts much longer. I had no problems with the Ikon 29x2.2, but the 27.5x2.2 slips a bit. I recommend the Ardent Race because of the smaller wheel size to keep up with size 29.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank

Excellent light rubber, was skeptical about side leaks but.

Leadville 100 on an extra wide 35 mm carbon rim. Works perfectly in the rear skids only in very weak curves. Even if it slips, it maintains control and immediately returns to its original position. The excellent light tire was skeptical about side leakage but it worked great with Gorilla tape on the rim and Stans inside.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Can be retrofitted

Great XC bike tire

Excellent fast rolling tire with good grip and strong sidewalls for climbing rocks and roots. Recently ran an XC marathon in one of these and had no problems. You can use it as a front or rear tire. My setup was Maxxis Ardent Race 2.2 front, Maxxis Ikon 2.2 rear, both tubeless. For more off-road oriented setups, you can use it as the rear tire and use something stronger as the front tire.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

Fast and responsive feel.

Excellent grip on loose and hard padding. Started at 25psi and seemed to latch onto the track right away with tremendous grip. I've used the 2.4 and it's even more grippy and comfortable, but I found the 2.4 soft and slow to respond. Almost like an old Oldsmobile. The 2.2 is more responsive but has a more predictable feel when leaning into a corner. Can be driven super and the weight is manageable. Not very good in liquid mud but gets the job done. I use this on the front with an Ikon 2.2 onโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • The list will go on.

I dug up these new tires

I replaced my 27.5 x 2.35 Schwalbe Nobby Nics with a Maxxis Ardent Race 2.20 rear and a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 front. Our trails here in Wisconsin tend to be heavily clogged with roots and rocks. The Nobby Nics had too much profile and tended to slide around corners. They also had thin sidewalls and developed pinholes in the rear tire sidewall that caused the tire to let air escape. Ardents fit much better. I installed them tubeless and there was no air leakage a few days after installation. Rodeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Low repairability

Decent tires with terrible rolling resistance

I wanted a good all round MTB tire for 80% pavement and 20% hard dirt on my Cannondale Hard Tail 29er. I replaced my Continental X-King tires which have done about 3000 miles and are still in pretty good condition. I did a lot of research and the Maxxis Ardent Race 3C Exo had some great reviews on the all round MTB tire and rolling resistance. Over the years that I've used many Maxxis UTV tires, I've bought a few and done a 20 mile test ride. The rolling resistance was TERRIBLE! It felt like Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some small things

Better than my last tires!

No shipping and delivery problems. I have a 2013 Trek Marlin Gary Fisher X-country bike (entry level). I wasn't really a mountain biker when I bought this bike - mostly paved easy terrain. slipping on the roots and in the mud. We live in Texas so there are only flat and moderately hilly areas (except West Texas). I added Ardent (width 2.4) in the front and Ardent Race (width 2.2) in the rear. The grip is definitely better than my previous tires, I don't slide as much in mud and leaves anymoreโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Not everything fits
