Fire pits and small/portable grills are great fun - but you certainly don't want your fun outdoor time end up with a scorched deck or fire in your lawn. To that end, a mat like this is ideal for protecting your yard or patio (or deck, etc.) from the heat and embers of your fire pit or small grill. The mat is double-sided, seems to protect the things under it quite well from heat (I wouldn't light a fire directly on it, but placed underneath a fire pit/bowl or grill, it does the job). It's lightweight but well constructed and seems likely to hold up through quite a few fires. That said, I won't be leaving it outside in bad weather, but will bring it in to help it last longer (it likely could stay out just fine, but of course bringing it in will be better in the long run).One thing to note is the size of this - it's fairly small at just a bit over 25" in diameter. I have a 24" fire pit that it's perfect for, but you'll want to make sure your fire pit or grill fits entirely over the mat for the best protection of whatever's below it.If you're good with the size of this mat, it offers good protection for a good price - and is definitely worth giving a try!
