Review on Compact And Efficient: Discover The GAINWELL Small Hair Brush by Israel Thurow

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Interesting combo of synthetic "bristles ". Normal size head with small handle. Durable.

I got this for my husband's short, thick hair. This looked like it would tangle or snag hair like mine which is very long and very fine. As it is, it doesn't cause as much snagging as it looks like it is capable of but it definitely causes a more fluffy, almost frizzy look due to the shorter "lawn" of densely packed bristles below the more sparse, long plastic ones. The handle is real wood, not plastic like some reviewers said. It's just polished and treated, lightweight wood. However, the "boar" bristles look synthetic, not like real boar. The strength of the bristles and pad they're attached to looks pretty good. It doesn't shed bristles and looks like it's securely crafted to last a long time without loosing prongs or bristles. The handle is incredibly comfortable and feels good in my small hands but then again, I didn't get this for myself. It doesn't "collapse" or fold like a lot of plastic travel brushes but the short length is definitely less bulky than a normal sized wooden brush. The head is almost normal size and most of the "travel size" qualification goes to the reduced handle size. It doesn't really fit in the bag that comes with it, only the head fits, with the handle sticking out.The little cleaner tool is super handy if you're using this on longer hair and provided you don't lose the tiny tool within a month of owning the brush. If you have short, thick hair, and like the fluffed look, this is the brush for you. If a more piece-y slicked back look is your thing, go for a brush with no boar bristles, fake or otherwise, and with just spaced out plastic prongs.Durability-wise and overall craftsmanship, this is a decent brush and it looks nice, too.

Pros
  • Nice size, brushes out tangles well and like that it is boar bristles. Made in China though.
Cons
  • It may not be suitable for individuals with thick or curly hair
