I have a Cygolite kit for all of our family bikes. I started with Metro 500, then 700, now 800. They're basically the same, just the higher the number, the brighter the light. We've had them for over 5 years (Metro 500) and battery life. almost the same as when new. The taillights are the best, and they're visible from almost any distance. 500 is bright enough for city driving at night. The new 800 is very bright and really lights up everything in front of you. If you're out mountain biking at night, you might want to move on to something more serious. I like that the taillight mount is very tightly attached to the seatpost. It fits easily on almost any bike and will never slip. The reason for the 4-star rating is related to the front light mount. Can be larger in diameter. Many bikes are now using larger diameter handlebars, especially near the stem. This is a tough fit on my mountain bike, I had to adjust it further than I wanted and I only got a few engagement threads. It never fell off, but it would have been nice to have a slightly larger mount.
