My folks are in their 80's and after many, many falls from chairs and sofas onto tile floors, two of their DirecTV remotes are almost burned. Not wanting them to have to deal with ordering new remotes themselves, I ordered them for them last week and went to their house tonight to install them. I was a bit hesitant, not at all tech savvy and knowing my parents had old "dumb" TVs, but the setup was an absolute peach. The DirecTV box in their living room automatically recognized the new remote as soon as I put the batteries in and hit a random button - the box took over from there and I got simple on-screen instructions. The remote was programmed in less than two minutes and worked perfectly. The TV in the bedroom was a bit more difficult, but only because I had to manually enter the TV's model number (because it didn't auto-scan like the first TV). It took a few extra minutes (mainly because I had to turn the TV over to find the model number on the back) but once I did it was again a simple swap number process and voila! Another perfectly programmed remote control. I'm so glad I've already ordered another remote (for her kitchen TV) and small rubber pads for the remote so maybe these new ones will survive a fall off the couch/bed/kitchen counter without breaking. :) VERY happy with this purchase and this seller - the remotes arrived quickly and were securely bubble wrapped. 5 very bright stars! :)
