Review on Enviro Safe 3226 Can Tap Gauge by James Nedumaran

Bought to fill a fridge that didn't stay cold in the freezer (checked there was no frost in the freezer and there are no problems with the freeze sensor) . I hooked it up to a bottle of pure 134a coolant that had a self-sealing valve. The new self-sealing jars are designed to be backwards compatible with penetrating faucets, so they SHOULD work right out of the box. But the problem is that the green washer used in the can fitting is too thick. Too thick (if you're reading this, eco-friendly, consider replacing the green shim you're using with something thinner). First I bought the popular blue adapter, but it didn't work because it was TOO THICK. Since I was in dire need of a freezer, I decided to modify the product to make it work. To other customers who are having this issue: To get it working with the new self-sealing jar, all I had to do was remove the green rubber disc from the faucet, cut it in half lengthways (sounds tricky, but gently squeeze with pliers to cut it along on one side and separate the pieces as you rise (takes about 5 minutes) with a dull knife). After doing this and replacing the now thinner washer (still thick enough to close the jar) the faucet worked great without the need for another adapter. It works great as a piercing adapter if you still sell piercing glasses. As said, new cans should work with these old faucets as long as the faucets have enough stroke from the outside in. If too thick a washer is used they will not work. In the US all canisters are now sold with self-sealing valves, which are much better constructed as there is no wastage of product if you just want an incomplete can, AND the valve opens more slowly making refilling safer/easier. The manufacturer of this product should really know that they made a design mistake and fix it, which will be very easy for them to do.
