Review on HiLetgo Outdoor Automatic Infrared Motion by Josh Sharp

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Mostly working good for motion sensors

I have ordered three of these sensors for security lights. There are no instructions, but they were easy enough to hook up (blue - ground, brown - power from source, red - power to light). They seemed to be working great until the first rain and one of them completely filled with water! I'm not even sure how that much water got in as it took me forever to shake most of it out. Completely stopped working until I shook out the water. Then the light came on and never went out. It sat in the sun all next day, dried out a bit and seemed to work again that night, but I can't get it to work like this every time it rains. Guess I'll call it a manufacturer fault and replace it... for $7 I wasn't expecting much and 2/3 of these work great. My only other complaint is the lack of a way to attach it. The threaded end is an unusual size and requires a shovel attachment, and the threaded section isn't long enough to go through much but thin plastic and still has open threads to screw in a nut to secure it. I'm sure some people use them to replace broken IR sensors in store bought lights, but I'm also sure a lot of people, like me, use them for their own purposes. A 1/2" male end and about 1" length make them MUCH more useful than the 5/8" x 1/4" they have now. When you get them, be prepared to modify your project to use them AND add some silicone along each joint in the plastic case, they are NOT waterproof. I would pay $20 each if they were truly waterproof and more versatile to mount.
