About a month ago I installed one of the buttons on the driver's side seat belt and it has stayed in place ever since and has prevented the buckle from slipping off. The small awl that came with the buttons wasn't big enough in diameter to make a hole big enough to push the plastic pin through. Instead, I used an ice pick. After pushing the plastic pin on the male half of the seat belt button through the hole and snapping the inner half of the button onto the pin, I used pliers to squeeze the two halves together more tightly. I don't think the button would hold together very long if I just fastened it with finger pressure. So you need to use an ice pick or big awl to make the hole in the belt big enough and then use pliers to firmly press the two halves on the belt together to attach the button securely to the belt. In my opinion this kit is a very good price as you get 18 sets of buttons which should be a lifetime supply unless you are very rough with the seat belts. That little awl they include might be useful for something else, but not for installing buttons.
