Review on Perixx Periboard-522 Wired Trackball Mechanical Keyboard With 2.17 Inch Built-In Pointing And Scrolling Feature, US English Layout by Josh Allred

Trackball buttons are a bit awkward but I love the keyboard.

Disclaimer - I'm not a very fast typist and generally only use my index fingers for typing. I bought this keyboard to see if I could minimize the motions when moving my hand from the keyboard to the mouse and back again. I had a trackball in the past and liked it so I thought I would give the all in one a try. After using the keyboard for a few days I can tell you I really like the feel of the keys. I'm still adjusting to the slightly different layout so I still have awkward moments when a key isn't where I think it is. But the tactile feel is great and I feel like I can type faster. The trackball itself is the right size and very easy to use but the left and right mouse buttons and scroll wheel are a bit awkward. I'm not sure if you are supposed to use your thumb for all 3 buttons or your thumb for the left button and something else for the others? Any tips would be appreciated! It seems like the buttons would be better placed on the other side of the trackball so you could have the trackball midway under your fingers and the buttons at your finger tips. It's tempting to crack the case and see how hard of a mod that would be but there is the whole warranty issue. For me it's not the perfect keyboard but it is a step in the right direction.
