Arrived with almost dead batteries. Serious? Why include them?

The thermometer seems fine, but why put in almost dead batteries? We would have bought the batteries if they weren't included but figured we could get the batteries when the first set ran out. No, came with a "Lo" battery notice, meaning the battery is very low and MUST BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. The low battery icon indicates that the batteries are low but can still be used. No, it's almost impossible to use right out of the box. Again, if the batteries weren't included, we would have bought them with the thermometer. Now we must travel and find batteries. Unsatisfied. Extremely uncomfortable. When people buy a thermometer, it may be because they need it as soon as possible, not delayed due to lack of batteries. Not suitable. Also to the frequently asked question: Where is it made? Made in China (photo attached)

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
