This is a very versatile tripod. The part that connects to the camera can be quickly removed from the tripod. There is a screw to prevent accidental trigger release. The top can be rotated in a variety of ways, including putting the camera in portrait mode and locking it. The legs are strong and go with almost anything. The legs are made from a thick, flexible metal insert with red and black rubber "pods" on the outside. Capsules are for support, not structure. The overall quality is above average and for the price it's a very good deal. Definitely recommend it for road trips and vacations - you can grab a leg and use it as a poor man's selfie stick. Please note that it's a little large (over 12" overall length) and a little hefty. No major flaws. I wish there was an additional mount widget so I can switch between the two cameras. absolutely straight back - but only someone with OCD like me will notice :)
