These ghetto blasters remind me a lot of how they were actually built in the 80's so I don't find them cheap. The speaker is not outstanding quality, a little disappointing in sound quality. I would also urge you not to run the tape recorder for a minute or two before inserting the cassette. I didn't and it ate the first cartridge I put in, but it's been working fine ever since. If this boombox was $10-20 cheaper I would probably buy a second one and give it away.
