I just got a 4 month old cockatiel 6 days ago who has only been taking small sips of water and touching her birdseed only to discard safflower and sunflower seeds. I know you should have fed them the same as the house they were born in, but no luck. I ordered this thing with plans to switch it over after it started eating seeds again but pretended to have eaten something before that yesterday. For the first time in her life she grabbed a piece of food from my hand and then dug into the plate I placed on top with some pellets. This morning she went straight to the plate and I'm very glad she won't starve. Moral of the story: Even if your bird isn't tame and hasn't bonded to you, try to pretend it's eating what you want it to eat on its own.
