I've been planning to increase the capacity of my 4-disk Synology NAS for a long time. In the Amazon store, I chose an external hard drive SEAGATE Backup Plus Hub STEL8000200 for 8 TB, at the time of purchase on March 23, 2022, it cost 14,990, while a separate drive SEAGATE Barracuda ST8000DM004 for 8 TB cost 17,390. for a share (18,590 without it). I chose a cheaper option in order to remove the disk from the case later (I was aware of the risk of losing the warranty and in this way I bought disks not for the first time, the price decides, and Seagate reliable disks and if it works right away, then there should be no further problems) . At the checkout, I examined the box - it was without a factory film, but there was a SEAGATE branded sticker on the box, this completely reassured me and I did not check the disk (1 mistake). Having brought it home, I opened the package, the box of the external disk in the film, nothing attracted attention. I connected it to a laptop - the disk was immediately determined, the capacity was displayed as 8 TB - I did not fill all 8 TB or test the disk with various utilities (error 2). I decided to carefully open the case and install the disk in the network storage. After opening, I found that inside the case there was a disk with identification stickers peeled off, scratched and very light. Having installed it in the storage and initialized it, the network storage OS showed about 150 GB! The disk was removed, connected back to the case and to windows, after formatting the system showed 160 GB. I turned to the Internet and realized that I was far from alone. I immediately wrote about the situation to Amazon, registered application No. 4763948. The next day, I was contacted by a leading specialist in the loyalty group for working with appeals, after sending me a photo, he gave the answer - "in this case, the return of the goods is not possible due to a violation of warranty obligations." I draw your attention - UNKNOWN DISC WAS INSTALLED INTO THE CASE AND SOLD AS A NEW DISK, which can be interpreted as a FRAUD. I consider comments that I am writing in the wrong topic to be unjustified - the situation often repeats with this particular model
