I ended up using these remote controlled light bars on my kick drum because of the visual impact they have on stage now. My drum kit draws a lot of attention when lit up like a Christmas tree. I originally intended to install it on one of my machines, but decided against it for two reasons. All the wires are connected to the controller, which allows them to get tangled. Not being able to disconnect every cable from the controller to make installation easier, I decided not to waste time messing around with it on my machine. When I tested the light it also seemed to interfere with the internal light bars I already had installed and they work with a remote control. I connected them all to a 12v power supply so some creates interference which causes the interior lights to not work properly. Perhaps these remote controls interfere with each other and neutralize each other. I don't know the exact cause of the error and I don't have time to find out. It will remain a mystery. Otherwise the remote works well and the light is bright except that one of the shorter light bars emits different colors compared to the other three light bars which are the same color depending on the setting and again I don't know why that is. For example, if I put it on the blue setting, a light bar doesn't work at all, while on the white setting it's green. In one of the music activated settings it changes color to a different color than the other 3 light bars which looks cool on the drum but I wouldn't be happy with it installed on the machine. These are inexpensive lights so I wasn't expecting much from the start but they are bright, look good and everything seems to be working quite well at the moment. Aside from the different colors on one of the shorter lightbars, I'm happy with my purchase and have been able to use them on my drums in place of an auto. It will be interesting to see how durable they are. If they last 6 months with no problems, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't call them junk but rest assured that your expectations of cheap Chinese made LED panels will be lower. I figured it was worth the risk to get these cheaper lightbars for less than $30 instead of paying $70-$100 for backlight kits sold at national auto parts stores and Wally World.
