I bought this case to take my NVMe drive with me on the go and it's great for that. My first impression was terrible and I almost returned it until I realized my mistake was the problem. I had a USB-C to USB-A cable in my bag, so I grabbed it and plugged the drive into my laptop. The performance was terrible - the max read and write speeds were 40MB/s HOWEVER I found out later that I was using the USB 2.0 cable that came with the charger. When I switched to the included USB 3.0 to USB-C cable, performance jumped to 430MB/s - much more respectable! When I got home and switched to a USB-C to USB-C cable on my desktop, the performance jumped to over 800MB/s. It's not as fast as my Thunderbolt 3 case, but perfect if your laptop doesn't have Thunderbolt 3. . The tool-free design is easy and convenient to use. Just note that it can't accommodate an NVMe drive with a heatsink.
