Review on Nobsound 100W Full Frequency Mono Channel Digital Power Amplifier Audio Mini Amp (Black) – Superior Sound Amplification for Audiophiles by Hassan Tomlinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Actually controls a large electrostatic!

This is the third Nobsound amplifier I have bought. My intention with the full frequency mono amp was to include the center channel in my AV system. I currently have an Anthem preamp and power amp with Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. My intention was to replace the big machines with smaller amps and speakers. Out of curiosity, I hooked up Nobsound to the ML center channel. This is a 5 ohm impedance speaker with 89 dB efficiency, which is more than 100 times the cost of the amplifier. Pretty absurd! But wow, that actually sounds good, not as muscular as the 220 watt Anthem, but a bit more detailed and airy. I still think I'll downsize the speakers at some point, but for now I'm happy to run big electrostatics with mini Class D amps. In my 5.1 system I'm using two Nobsound stereo amps to drive the FL, FR, RL, RR to drive in addition to Mono Nobsound for CC. I like being able to have separate manual adjustments for center, front, and rear volume levels. This control is very useful when watching movies as the tonal balance varies greatly from one to another. UPDATE: I have a Nobsound mono amp hooked up to a JBL 2445J compression driver and horn. Driver 16 ohms, 111dB @ 1W/1m. This is an insanely efficient speaker! With a mono amp, the hissing was noticeable even at medium volumes with horns. I'm not deducting a single star from my original rating as most people will not use this amp with such a sensitive speaker. I assume that any speaker with an efficiency of less than 95 dB (i.e. the vast majority of speakers) will not hiss. I thought it was worth mentioning because I don't hear any hiss when I connect the 2445J to a Nobsound 100w x2 Class D amp. I assumed the Nobsound mono version was identical to the stereo version except for the number of channels . Probably no. The stereo version is quieter. But again, you wouldn't have noticed that if you hadn't used high-efficiency speakers.
