I've been using this for a year now and occasionally use it when I feel like having a coffee. He has consistently exceeded my expectations. Combined with a specific temperature kettle to heat the water to 205 degrees and following the 2-minute coffee brewing method (pour around the coffee grounds in a circular motion, wait 30 seconds for the grounds to "swell”, pour a little more, still one wait 30 seconds, repeat twice more for a total brewing time of two minutes), this works well. The point is to find the right ratio of coffee grounds to water for your taste and get used to pouring the amount in 4 roughly equal portions at 30 second intervals. There is a technique, but it's easy to learn and worth the effort. I like to control the quality of my coffee and brew it cup by cup. It is easy to care for, especially the filter is of very good quality and lasts well. This would make a great gift for those who love coffee but use a basket style coffee maker. It is much more pleasant to use and the coffee quality is better because it is tailored to your preferences. Expect to become much more sensitive to the nuances of different coffees now that you have your own brewing method and suddenly you know what your preferences are in that regard. I found that I like organic medium roast decaffeinated coffee that has been processed with Swiss water. I had no idea I preferred this until I learned how to use this coffee maker. Enjoy!
