Good product required for a cassette over 36t

This is great. I bought it instead of the cheaper ones because I knew it would work, which the knockoffs don't. I have it on an 11-42 cassette with a Shimano Sora RD-3500ss derailleur. Sora alone can do 36 all the way with the b-screw, that gives me 42. Sora's official derailleur is 32 teeth max, but if you're familiar with big cassettes, you know that's conservative. I can't tell if you need a derailleur with a longer basket like the one I use, so I don't know if this would work for one with a 28t max pull. I don't think you'll need more than one Cassette could do max. 42t. With the b screw on the link there is a limit to how far you can screw it in before it is no longer effective. Only about halfway through the bolt, at this point the bolt starts to go over the edge but that's just about enough for a 42. Max 40 on the road link spec is by far the safest bet but you can go as high as 42 in my opinion going, resulting in the derailleur cage being much closer to the ground. If you hit the curb in the highest gear, you'll likely break your derailleur. I don't know if he will have a pedaling situation in a corner because he is so close to the bike. The 42t is probably the most handy gear again, because when you end up getting taller on a road bike, your rear derailleur cage will hit the ground. Plus the fact that you can go faster uphill if you can't go in 42nd gear.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Very expensive
