Review on TR Industrial TR89100 Demolition Jackhammer by Desmin Dickerson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Demolish the underground pool with this villain.

For the past few months I've been working over the weekend destroying our 55,000 gallons in the dirt pool and surrounding sidewalks, primarily using this tool alone. I will add some photos that will show the power of this tool. So far I've demolished about 100 feet by 10 feet of 4 inch thick rebar reinforced walkway and punched some large drainage holes in the bottom of the pool. The oil level hasn't dropped one bit and there are no signs of brush wear yet. Before first use, I lubricated the bits with Valvoline VV614 (GM, Chrysler, European and Japanese vehicles), 16 oz all-purpose grease, which I've read helps prevent oil leaks. After seeing that I have mild insomnia I will share some of the things I have learned in this project so far. By the way, this is my first jackhammer.1. Using a jackhammer isn't as much fun as it seems on TV. You get sick, put on shock-absorbing rubber gloves, remove all rings and cut your nails. Eye protection is also important, ear protection isn't really needed with this outfit.2. Reinforcement is evil. The cement walkway was reinforced with 6x6 wire fence rebar. If you have one, get some small bolt cutters to deal with when you break off the pieces. This reinforcement also goes right through the boot.3. Compressive strength of concrete, tensile strength. If you try to punch a hole straight through the drill bit will get stuck, if you work in such a way that you always knock down an open triangle of concrete it will break easily and you will end up with larger pieces. I worked the first section of the panel in a semicircle, so I always had a piece with two open ends that could be broken off. If the bit is stuck, remove it from the jackhammer and use the second bit to remove the first. I had to do this a few times when I started. To power this unit I bought a 12/3 Romex reel and plugged it straight into a 20 amp circuit breaker in the breaker box, then rolled it out about 150 feet to the pool and plugged into a GFI outlet in the waterproof box. . From there I use a 12 gauge extension. Now some photos. Update: I finally have a reason to use a shovel attachment. After trying to break the dense, dry clay about a foot deep into a post hole I was digging with a shovel, I thought I might give it a try. I had a "where have you been all my life" moment as soon as I pulled the trigger. Hole (typical side digging), form a kind of circle, then rake out the debris and repeat the process. Made life a lot easier. If I could raise this to 6 stars I would.
