I decided to take the plunge and bought a do-it-yourself ceramic coating kit. This tool had pretty good reviews, so I went for it. There are others and I'm sure they are all good, but I'm here to talk about this particular brand. I have a 2017 Honda Pilot so it's still new and has very few paint issues. I only used hood polish though to make sure the finish was smooth because from what I've read there's no going back once you've applied it. The best advice I can give is to work in small areas. I lost patience and made a large area and in some places it dried out before I could polish it. The area looked up and now I have to use elbow grease and rubbing paste to fix the cloudiness and start the area over. So work in small areas and be patient. Buff everything before it dries. The end results are beyond amazing. I just hope it lasts as long as he says (3 years)
