Once I understood what was going on, I was finally able to program. Even after the learner remote shows activity, you must press and hold the original remote for two seconds as instructed. Another issue was holding the two remotes too close together (at least 2 inches apart). Also, program the power button and the nearby up button last, as it sometimes crashes when exiting the mode. Not sure if that was part of the final equation, but I had to exit programming mode after each key (again, it took many tries to program it). Great remote, when I turn it on it works throughout the room with no issues.
