I bought these to replace the stock ear pads on my Audio-Technica ATH-M50X. While the standard pads are very soft, they have small 2 inch ear holes that don't fully cover your ears. The top 75% of the ear is closed and the lower soft petals touch the pads. The ear cushions are by no means uncomfortable. , but requires some adjustments about every hour due to this direct contact, which is mostly annoying. The Brainwavz pads have large 2.7" holes as well as a lot more padding. They are just an order of magnitude more comfortable than traditional ones as they completely cover the ear. You can wear them all day and hardly notice them. The main problem, however, is that these ear cushions drastically change the sound signature - essentially removing the tight bass hit and replacing it with a boomy, more amorphous sound. This could either be because your ears are farther from the speakers or the lack of a fit with the plush padding. It also boosts the high frequencies slightly, resulting in shrill and overly defined high frequencies. This is a deal killer for me as I bought these headphones for their amazing sound signature. Most people seem to agree to a compromise, while others, like me, are unwilling to give in. Too bad, these pillows really resemble pillows. You can't have everything for this price. EDIT (10/6/17): I noticed that I put the original ear pads on incorrectly. Despite my large ears, the ear pads fit snugly around my ears. The original ear pads are extremely comfortable when worn properly, however, as these headphones have a high clamping force, the comfort wears off after an hour or two. However, I still recommend the original pads over the Brainwavz due to the authentic sound signature.
