High-current relay on relay

I immediately postponed the consideration, wanted to see how the device held up, for about 6 months. I used this to replace a high current relay in my automatic fuse box under the hood of my car. For some reason my fan relay melted in the fuse box and couldn't replace the factory relay. with a relay as far as it works, but I wish it was built to use a socket instead of exposed terminals. The other problem is that if you're using this in a circuit controlled by your car's computer, like my fan relay, you'll need to put a diode across the coil terminals to stop the EMF on sensitive components like your car's computer system. Some relays already have this built in, this one doesn't mention it so I added it to the relay just in case. You can google the EMF relay coil and it will explain what it is. I also added a capacitor to the circuit to help the contacts on the relay. All in all it does the job I need it for with some headroom as the fan can draw a maximum of 50A and the relay is rated for 100A although I think that's a bit optimistic. Anyway if you need to control a high DC device this relay will help and it also has a diagram showing which terminals do what. So overall happy with the product with the extras I added for security reasons.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good
