I love everything about this flashlight. hang it on the belt loop. and with a twist of your thumb and forefinger, a light shines on the floor in front of your feet at the last used intensity level. ------ There are 3 levels of light intensity available. just perfect.----very secure connection when twisting. (Compared to .finicky thread head/end cap switch use other electrical connection). You will not get a flickering light. .if you look into the head of the flashlight, you will see a gold connector ring that is completely insulated from the head and mates with the polished surface of the flashlight body. This provides (-) negative polarity for the head --- it draws no power when off. because . Turning the head to turn off the power gives you a complete mechanical break of the circuit by physically separating the two surfaces. In fact you completely disconnect the battery from the head which contains all the voltage regulation and memory circuitry --- - the last light setting is still stored in memory if the battery is switched off/swapped etc. because the memory used is non-volatile RAM/value. does not require electricity to maintain settings ####### For those who may encounter an issue when the light stops working. as some have noted. I traced the problem with a voltmeter. because after 6 months of use. that happened to me too. The problem is related to the loss of communication with the lantern body due to the internal spring. Try inserting the pencil into the case with the eraser facing down. and with slight pressure on the spring. Twist the pin to rotate the nib. this only works temporarily. Only good for a test to see if the light is on then. I removed the spring with tweezers. Twisting while pulling might help. Clean the inside of the case with a cloth soaked in medicinal alcohol / and a pen. This would help increase the spacing between the springs at the bottom to put more pressure on the case when you put the spring back in place. the problem is dirt. Dirt. is entered each time a battery is installed. there were many. perhaps by slightly bending the end of the spring outwards with needle nose pliers. To ensure a strong connection with the lantern body would be good
