Review on PALMEXX 4K UltraHD 3D HDMI Switch: 1x2 HDMI to HDMI/2x1 HDMI to HDMI by Adam Nowak ᠌

Does not meet my expectations, not worth buying.

I connected a PC and a laptop to one monitor through this switch. The switch works, the monitor shows the image from both devices. The button is pressed pleasantly without loud clicks. But just by chance I found this bug: It was useful to disconnect the vga cable from the PC for joy (it transmitted the image to the monitor with such "soap" that the eyes fell out on the table after a couple of hours) and at first I could not understand where the sound from the PC was coming from, despite the fact that the system was completely turned off. The source of the sound turned out to be a running fan of the power supply. I think, okay, okay, maybe a glitch of the PSU itself, but it's strange, since I recently got a new expensive high-quality hardware and a phanteks revolt pro 1000w Gold PSU! (I left comments on unpacking on for anyone who is interested). I'm not strong in circuitry, so I decided to use the old-fashioned "poke" method and turned off the power switch on the PSU. The spinner is still spinning. Well, I think I'll get over this rabid fan anyway, and I yanked out the power cable. The fan continued to spin, and I crossed myself. After scratching my turnips, I decided that the only cable through which, theoretically, voltage can be transmitted to the computer is hdmi. And indeed. It turned out that a voltage is transmitted to the PSU fan via an hdmi cable through a video card (temporary plug - radeon r7) through the motherboard to the PSU. At random, I made the assumption that the diodes on the switch are powered immediately to all hdmi outputs and transmit voltage in all directions through themselves. As I already mentioned, I am a layman in circuitry, but I think that this is an abnormal situation, and there is probably a small, but risk of damaging the equipment. I decided to make a return, and if necessary, I will buy such a switch from a more reliable manufacturer that tests its products.

Pros
  • Works; Not expensive.
Cons
  • Jambs for voltage transmission (I will describe in the comments)
