My lower headset cup measures just under 2.5 inches and the instrument falls through as it doesn't expand enough to seat and evenly hit the cup like I was hoping. For me I would have liked it if all the bells/teeth of the tools were in contact with the edges of the cup so when knocked out it would come out evenly instead of first knocking out one side and then the other. side, then the other side, and so on until the cup comes out. It didn't leave any notable notches, but I think you're taking a risk if you do it this way. Maybe in an aluminum frame it doesn't matter, so 3 stars because it perfectly removes the top cup but doesn't completely remove the bottom cup of a larger diameter headset.
