Okay, here's the thing. This remote control was not working when I received it. I called DirecTV (per the instructions on their help page) and had a long, repetitive conversation with their representative. Understanding was hard to come by, to say the least. After walking me through a few steps SEVERAL times, he explained that I had a bad remote. Even though he knew I got it from a third party, he sent me a new one for free (good on him). It arrived today and it doesn't work! I ended up speaking to the technician again, which was surprising (maybe not great), similar to my previous experience. But I took it a step further: while talking to her, I googled "set up a DirecTV remote for RF”. (I have an RF receiver, by the way, which I LOVE.) Following the instructions I found there, the remote worked in a few minutes. I then used the same technique on the remote that I originally bought here and voila! Now I have TWO working remotes. The method I found online was very different from the advice I received from TWO of the company's 'Tech Support' people. I say buy this pup then go online to customize it. DO NOT go to the DirecTV website, just google it. You will not regret it.
