A few days after receiving this leash, my 60 pound dog tore the clasp off the end after jumping just two or three feet slack in the rope when it was bound. The 8mm rope is pretty strong, but the flimsy aluminum clasp doesn't do the job. Rather than sending the leash back I fitted a strong stainless steel lobster clasp and now I'm confident it will hold my dog up. I don't think the error was due to a faulty clasp, rather the button on the end of the part that attaches to the dog went through the hole in the part that attaches to the leash because the button was too small and that Metal is Is too weak. As you can see in the photo of the interchangeable stainless steel clasp, the button is much larger and the metal is much stronger, and it takes quite a bit of force to separate the two pieces. For less powerful dogs that do not lunge, an aluminum buckle may be appropriate, but owners of powerful dogs should be careful.
