Used to bleed the brakes on all 4 wheels of a Toyota Yaris. It didn't damage the welds. Make sure you measure the length of your car's welds and compare that measurement to the size of the pad slot. If the pinch seams do not reach at least halfway through the pad's slit, the pad may buckle and shift.
