We needed an alternative to Teflon as it has been linked to cancer etc. It distributes heat well and gets the job done. The reason for the three stars is that the bottom turned orange after the first two uses. This is the result of moisture acting on cast iron. That doesn't happen internally yet. (Hopefully not) However, when I clean the bottom of the pan, my sponge picks up any metal residue from whatever reaction is going on there. I'm still trying to figure out if cast iron is any healthier than teflon due to rust residue on the metal.
