I bought this because my Playstation 3 is in storage and I still needed to replace the optical drive on my PC. Works as a CD/DVD/BR player/recorder, although the only limitation is that you need additional software to play DVD and Blu-ray movies, which is not included. There are free apps that can play DVD videos like Media Player Home Cinema, BS Player or VideoLAN VLC, but I couldn't get any of them to work for Blu-ray movies. The discs appear to be "locked" and you need something like Cyberlink Media Player (which is not free) to play them, and even then you need to "unlock" the disc to play it on your PC with play internet access. via the app or via SMS/call to receive a code that you need to enter to unlock. Pooh. Pretty annoying.
