Elegant crystal goblets, perfectly shaped for drinking and naturally aerated, characterize this set that fulfills a wine lover's dreams. The glasses feature a long stem with a tapered top that widens towards the bottom of the glass, allowing your wine to breathe while slowing oxidation. Allowing a young wine to breathe for an hour is roughly equivalent to adding two years to its age. Older and more valuable wines oxidize more quickly, so the shape of the glass matters. The Pour Aerator is fairly effective at providing instant aeration, but I've noticed some subtle differences in flavor compared to natural aeration. However, drinking wine with dinner tends to rush things a bit, so an aerator is a very handy device. The wine corkscrew is very well designed and finished. Every wine opener I've ever owned took a period of adjustment as I was afraid of popping the cork and leaving residue in the bottle while desperately struggling to repair the damage and prevent cork particles from getting into the wine . The strength of this wine opener is that it's basically "once done". It holds the cork firmly and pulls it out of the bottle with relative ease. Stubbornly resisting the cork might take a little more effort, but the device does the work, not the winemaker. It's very effective. This is definitely a dream gift for any wine lover.
