Great for making cables
I use them to connect the shock cable. Clamps are a much neater and smaller terminal or connection than a knot. These clamps are zinc plated, not stainless steel, but unless they're constantly wet they'll last a long time, even outdoors. I use them to make kayak deck ropes and have had no issues with rusting. The measurement is taken at the widest point inside. So, for a 1/4" lay-up cable that is overlapped for connection, I use a 1/2" cable. They are easy to close with any type of pliers.
