This thing is a lot easier to open and close than I expected from other reviews. It is possible that adjustments were made during the production process. All I know is that this is the best ice cube tray I have ever seen. Don't worry about moving it from the sink to the freezer and spilling liquid on the floor, plus two compartments allow you to separate different types of ice cubes at once, like water and broth or whatever. But the most important thing for me is that the ice cubes don't disappear over time because they are covered. I don't use a lot of ice, but when I do I don't want to pull the tray out when half the cubes are gone. It helps a lot. And yes, you have to twist it a bit before popping the cube, but the silicone makes it easy.
