I think this is a great suggestion for a 4 port USB 3.0 port. For some consumers who are new to 3.0, the following points should be noted: 1. They are backward compatible, which means you can use your USB 2.0 devices with it.2. While there is only one dedicated charging port, the other 3 ports will charge some devices. For example, we were able to get other ports to charge our kids' Kindles, they won't charge any of our Apple devices. At the same time, a dedicated charging port easily charged our iPhones and iPads.3. It comes with a variety of adapters so you can plug it into just about any outlet you can think of. But you need an outlet nearby as it won't turn off your laptop. You must plug the device into the wall for it to work. The devices I connected had no problems accessing them through my computer. I was able to access and play the files without any problems. The access speed was not a problem. However, the ports are very close together so you may not be able to use them all at the same time depending on the type/size of USB device you are trying to connect. For example, when trying to connect flash drives, you may not be able to plug in four at once. In general I am satisfied with this product. I feel like they should have made all the charging and data ports so I can charge Apple products through more than just a dedicated charging port. It is, and I wish they spread out the ports a little more. These are the reasons why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. Still, I think it's a good buy and a great way to add peripherals to your computer if you're limited by USB ports.
