They darken the room.
They do pretty well keeping the light out. The material seemed like seconds with streaks in the coloring and defects. It would've been more trouble than it's worth to try to get them replaced, so I just kept them. I don't know if the price is why they seemed cheaply made or what. Just hope they help keep heat loss to a minimum this winter.
