The pole rises from the ceiling.
This light fixture creates a beautiful, clean look and helps modernize a room. As others have said, after about 2 weeks of installation, the rod moves away from the ceiling by about 3/4 inch at the ends. Overall I'm very happy but we may need to strengthen this bar somehow if it pulls farther from the ceiling it's quite nice for the price.
