Us grandparents bought this player for our 4 year old granddaughter. It's too hot for her. That statement is actually a compliment. The quality is excellent but fragile. A 4 year old needs guidance on how to lift and place a fragile hand. This player seems to be much better than its cheap price. The player has connections for external speakers and headphones. I downgraded the sound quality because the two built-in stereo speakers are too small for full 20-20,000Hz playback, but good enough for portable listening. With the exception of two small speakers, the plate, needle, lever, lifter are almost professional quality.
