We have just moved into an apartment in a 1890's converted mansion. Needless to say, there is almost no storage space. The closet in the bedroom is about the size of a small broom closet and the door barely closes with regular hangers. We maximized under bed space and bought a shallow drawer system to store underwear and socks, but it wasn't enough, especially for our formal work wear. The closet crumpled them up so badly due to lack of space that we hung them on a towel rail in the bathroom after washing and ironing. We hung one of these over the closet door in the bedroom and the other over the bathroom door. When company comes we undress, but when we're alone it's the perfect solution to our closet problem. Our clothes hang straight without wrinkles and are easy to find in the morning before work. I specifically wanted plastic (which is what those hangers are for) to keep the paint from scratching off the door. At this point I am happy to report that there is no paint damage on either the door or the underside of the door frame. I measured how well they fit beforehand so I knew they would slide nicely across the door. . Both doors were difficult to close, but a little effort was enough. They are ugly, but extremely practical in terms of space saving. They aren't installed, so you can remove them if you don't want anyone to see them. I highly recommend them.
