This is my first foray into the telephoto world, so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought it based on the positive reviews and the fact that customization is possible with an optional docking system (which I also purchased). The small number of shots I've taken so far have shown that this lens was an excellent choice as it puts the performance and quality of a telephoto lens in the hands of someone who can't justify buying professional gear. Canon 80D (also a new acquisition). I am interested in birds and wildlife. After a few field trips, I can easily see the exciting potential of this lens and camera combination. Loading images after taking them is like opening a present. What most passers-by hardly perceive as a fleeting movement in the bushes becomes a gift of nature when filling the screen. Even a common sparrow is of new interest. If your reason for purchasing this lens is your passion for getting crisp, far away images to enjoy and share, I'm sure you will be more than satisfied with this purchase. . I believe the quality offered by this equipment deepens my interest in understanding the art of photography. I've seen what other more experienced photographers can do with this lens and I enjoy creating images that are similar, maybe even better. I still have a lot to learn and this lens/camera combination opens up new horizons that should fuel my photographic ambitions for years to come. Thank you Sigma for providing a quality lens with plenty of room for a newbie like me.
