That's a beast

All I can say is wow. This lens is amazing. The sharpness is incredible. See attached picture. I'm sure Amazon compression will lose quality. I've photographed the moon, people, animals and every time the quality is excellent. I'm definitely glad I made this purchase. The first image of the moon was a still image on a tripod. Second image of the Orion Nebula with a star tracker and a tripod at a full 600mm. I added 30 x 30 second exposures from manual exposure. This lens will definitely come in

Better than Tamron 150-600

I bought and returned two copies of the Tamron 150-600 because I could not get clear handheld images at any stable level, especially over 500mm. To be honest I'm not sure what the problem was, maybe vibration compensation, maybe autofocus, maybe glass, maybe a combination of problems. PDA straight out of the box! The optical stabilization is fast, dependable and dependable, and this combined with its compact size and relatively light weight makes it an exceptional portable super telephoto lens.

  • Easy to read control panel

  • No automatic controls

Thanks Sigma - SLR Lenses

This is my first foray into the telephoto world, so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought it based on the positive reviews and the fact that customization is possible with an optional docking system (which I also purchased). The small number of shots I've taken so far have shown that this lens was an excellent choice as it puts the performance and quality of a telephoto lens in the hands of someone who can't justify buying professional gear. Canon 80D (also a new acquisition). I am…

Not good enough. good for camera lenses

I bought this for my Canon 80D for more range than I got with my 70-300L for wildlife. At home I put it on a tripod and compared the pixels with a Canon lens and found that I got just slightly more clarity at 600mm than at 300mm with Canon when zooming in on images 15 feet away. Even on my heavy Benro tripod, I found the weight of the lens very sensitive, even if I touched my foot to the ground, and it was very difficult for me to focus manually as the slightest touch in Live View would change…

Amazing lens, insane range, low light horror

This lens is amazing for the price. I originally bought a Sigma 100-400mm which I understand is pretty much in line with this lens except for the size/range and this lens was really good but I think this one is a bit sharper. The reason I upgraded was because I liked the 400mm reach and got addicted to it and decided that 600 is better than 400 right? I will say that it is slightly larger and heavier than the 100-400mm version (twice the size). Your forearm will get tired if you hold it for too

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Negative experience

This is a VERY shiny object. :)

May 2016 Update: Recent firmware fixes have improved autofocus performance. UPDATE January 2016: I bought the dock and firmware was released that improved the autofocus performance for me! This is a very shiny toy. It took me a while to post this review because at first I wasn't sure if there were any focus issues. After three weeks it becomes clear that it is an operator error and a learning curve. I will post some sample photos. My Camera: The Canon 70D is a cropped sensor camera, although…
