This lens is amazing for the price. I originally bought a Sigma 100-400mm which I understand is pretty much in line with this lens except for the size/range and this lens was really good but I think this one is a bit sharper. The reason I upgraded was because I liked the 400mm reach and got addicted to it and decided that 600 is better than 400 right? I will say that it is slightly larger and heavier than the 100-400mm version (twice the size). Your forearm will get tired if you hold it for too long, but it's bearable. Autofocus is a bit slower here than 100-400mm and seems to hunt more - but it could be because the extra range compresses the scene more (this is just a guess, I don't know if it really works that way). ) . In terms of cost, it's not much more than 100-400, so I'd base your decision on whether you're okay with the extra size and weight. I could easily fit a 100-400 in a camera bag with a lens hood and camera attached, but to do that I had to upgrade the bag. However, the range is AMAZING from 200mm. I use it on a Nikon D7500, which makes an effective 900mm telephoto lens. The construction of the lens looks very high quality and durable. I couldn't be happier. The only downside to this lens (and it's a big one) is that it's terrible in low light. This is perfectly normal in daylight, but in the shade use fairly high ISO settings to stand a chance of a good shot. On a cloudy day in the shade you get problems even with high ISO values. Finally, I tried it on my old Nikon D5000, which didn't work well above ISO 400 and couldn't be used in any light other than broad daylight, so I might not buy it if you have an older camera. However, if you want something similar in a faster lens, you're paying 10x to 20x more, so take it for what it's worth. There are always compromises. An amazing lens for the price.
