I bought and installed one about 2 months ago and connected to my home wireless network with no problems. Works well and I'm very happy with it. Well, Mother's Day is just around the corner and Mom says her old Roku (Netflix, Revain, etc.) is going nuts (hangs, pauses, etc.). She also has an ancient DVD player that uses 5 coax cables so I guess why not buy her a Sony 3500, replace 2 units with one and hook it all up to her Vizio TV (not smart) via HDMI? So, I remove the old Roku and DVD player, install Sony 3500, turn it on, find the SSID and put in the password, it accepts, says everything is fine, cool. The installer wants to check for an update so I say yes, it detects an update is available, I click OK and after a few seconds it says "Internet not available". BUT? Of course, if you check the network status, it says that there is no internet, but the wifi is still connected. So I turn my mom's router off and on again, Sony reconnects, the update says it's available, I hit ok and the same "internet unavailable" Ughh what's going on here? So I plug a temporary Sony Ethernet cable into my router and the update works fine (wow, it was about 100MB, it took a few minutes). After the update is complete, I unplug the cable and try to connect to the wireless network again. Netflix loads but freezes, "Internet unavailable" again, ughhhh! So I'm getting rid of my mom's D-Link DIR-655 wireless router and replacing it with a TP-Link with DD-WRT, Sony connects wirelessly and has internet. access now. Please. Now the device works perfectly. So there must be something about the D-Link DIR-655 that Sony just doesn't like. I don't know if it's Sony's or D-Link's fault, but they just didn't talk to each other. There are some special punctuation marks in the WiFi password, maybe that was a factor, I don't know. Sony loved my mom's TP-Link router (DD-WRT) and my Netgear router (DD-WRT) in my house. I was tempted to deduct a star for all this hassle but I really don't know if it's my fault or not so I'm leaving my rating at 5 stars. A little remark. If you have a disc in your car and the Netflix app is open, neither the remote control nor the button on the front of the player will eject the disc. You have to go back to the main screen and then it pops up, a bit silly but I can live with that.
